It took a while for me to prepare and release a version of Winaero Tweaker that recognizes and supports Windows 10 version 20H2. So here is version 0.18, and it is notable for the ability to disable web search from taskbar in Windows 10 version 2004, and version 20H2, along with a few more new features some of you guys were asking for.
What's new in Winaero Tweaker 0.18
Windows 10 version 20H2 support
Winaero Tweaker now supports Windows 10 version 20H2 properly. (I hope) It is now able to differentiate version 2004, and version 20H2.
Disable Web Search in Windows 10 Taskbar in version 2004/20H2
Following the recent changes made by Microsoft, I have updated the appropriate option in Winaero Tweaker. Now you can use it to disable web results in Windows Search.
Customize rows and columns in the classic Alt+Tab switcher
You can now change the number of icon rows and columns displayed by the classic Alt+Tab dialog when you enable it. This feature works in all supported Windows versions by Tweaker, including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
Change what App Keys do for the keyboard
One more new feature available for all the supported Windows versions - the ability to change the action for extra buttons available on many modern keyboards, such as Calculator, Computer, Browser, Mail, and so on. Microsoft Natural keyboards, for example, have plenty of them. Here you can reconfigure the buttons. The list of available keys is limited to 'known' buttons that Windows usually recognizes without extra drivers.
Default apps context menu
This new feature adds the "Default apps" page of Settings to the context menu (details can be found here). This can be useful for checking your default app associations quickly.
Remove Share with Skype
Winaero Tweaker now allows removing the Share with Skype context menu entry. The option can be found under Context Menu \ Remove Default Menu Entries.
Create shortcut to a PS1 file that runs it directly
There is a new shortcut tool in version 0.18 that allows saving your precious time by creating a shortcut that will directly launch a PS1 file. The shortcut target will run the PS interpreter with -NoExit
and -ExecutionPolicy Bypass
options, so use it carefully.
About box
Surprisingly, plenty of users were not happy with the former app behavior, when it returned to the "Information" page in the tweak list once you click on the Help > About menu item. After receiving a ton of complaints, I decided to add an extra dialog to the app.
Fixes
There is also a number of various issues resolved in this release. Most notable are.
- Fixed the broken update check. No idea when it started to happen, but it was caused by a combination of my legacy code and recent web site changes. I've refreshed the update check routine.
- Fixed wrong links for "how this tweak works" for a number of Tweaker options.
As always, I would like to say BIG THANKS to each and every Winaero Tweaker user. Your support, reports and suggestions are always helpful.

Another great release! Thanks Sergey! Useful and helpful as always.
Thanks Sergey for this release!
Confirming that the update check is now working again :-)
(Win 10 20H2 – Build 19042.572)
Hehe, great!
Hello Sergey!
Thank you so much for your software which enable user also to learn a lot of things while improving settings! (donation made)
I cannot download the latest version 0.18 – I get the “Forbidden 403” error message & there is “nginx” but that’s all, so:
* I looked at the FAQ, tried both of the download possibilities..
* Tried with Vivaldi, Edge, Pale Moon, and even Epic browser with VPN..
* I disabled the firewall, and then Kaspersky anti-virus.. But not both at the same time ! ☺
Is there anything more I could do? Or is there an issue ? This is a feedback…
I will try with another PC, anyway.
That’s weird! And what about the second web site? https://winaerotweaker.com
Does it give you 403 as well?
Anyway, must be fixed now.
Yesss! .. But the second computer only (the first one is still ‘stuck’ with the same error message)
The second works with both chromium based & Firefox browser.
Thank you very much!
I notice that the windows version displayed on the desktop is still not correct…
That’s not a Tweaker issue. It is Windows drawing the its version, not my app.
Can you please add the ability to run programs like regedit as SYSTEM like how you can run as TrustedInstaller?
I will think about it.
Would I need to uninstall previous version, or install over the previous version?
Great job thanks for your work!
Swifty
Just install the new one over the existing one.
Thank you :)
nice Sergey.
maybe I’ll wait for a .1 release of 0.18 that may include the ability to launch the “old” System control panel properties in Win10 20H2 as the 20H2 release seems to “hide” the old SYSTEM control panel as described here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-now-hides-the-system-control-panel-how-to-access-it/
Create a shortcut for it using Winaero Tweaker > Shortcuts > Shell Folder (CLSID) Shortcuts
All keys are already in your hands. Look for the “System” items in them list.
I have just installed 20H2 version and have noticed that the Version on desktop is not correct. It shows build 19041 but the actual build is 19042. Tried this on several machines and all of them still display 19041.
This is how Windows paints the desktop version. It is not a bug in Winaero Tweaker.
BIG Thank You! :)))
just installed 0.18. Import Tweaks still does not import bookmarks.
Hmm. Must be a bug.
Sergey: Thank you for this very interesting tool. I have been running version 0.17.1.0 and was interested in updating to the most recent version but keying the Check for Updates button does not instigate a download or anything resembling an updating process. I am uncertain if directly downloading the newest version from the website will undo all my existing tweak settings. What would you suggest I do to keep current? As an aside and possibly relevant question, is it possible to generate a report detailing all the existing settings so that I can retain a record for recovery and/or transferring system settings to a different user on my Windows 10 system? Thanks.
First of all, the app won’t undo your tweaks. Install it above the existing version.
You didn’t receive the update notification due to a bug. It is now resolved in version 0.18.
You can export your changes from File > Import/Export tweaks
and then import them on some other PC.
Winearo Tweaker is not saving changes. Specifically to the system font. Windows 10 64bit
Hi. Please add a dark mode theme! :)
PowerShell as Administrator to Context Menu opens with black background color (and window size as cmd).
I found this comand that works better:
PowerShell.exe -windowstyle hidden -Command “Start-Process PowerShell.exe -ArgumentList ‘-NoExit -NoProfile -Command cd ”%V”’ -Verb RunAs”
Correction:
%V is surrounded by two single quotes (‘)

Adding Context Menu option – Settings to Desktop Background does not work correctly in Window 10 versions 2004 and 20H2 since Winaero Tweaker v 0.16.1.0.0 (that is version 0.17.0.0 to current v0.18.0.0). The entries made to the registry are incorrect and about 94kB when exported.
If the correct registry settings are imported then this option works.
Disabling and reenabling the option within Winaero Tweaker leads to corrupt registry settings for this option.
Yep, that’s a known bug, and it is already fixed in the upcoming version. I hope to release it soon.
