Disable Lock Screen in Windows 11
Microsoft does not offer a simple way to turn off the Lock Screen feature with the Settings app or the classic Control Panel. To get that done, you must use a group policy editor or a registry tweak in Windows 11 Home. This article will cover both methods. Also, you will learn how to disable the Lock Screen using the Winaero Tweaker app.
Important: You need Administrator privileges to disable the Lock Screen in Windows 11.
The first method will work on Windows 11 Home and Pro. To disable the Lock Screen in Windows 11, do the following.
Disable Lock Screen using the Registry editor
- Press Win + R and enter the
regedit
command. - Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
. Copy-paste the path into the address bar to save time and clicks. - Right-click the Windows branch in the left-hand panel and select New > Key.
- Rename the new key to Personalization.
- Right-click anywhere on the right side of the window and select New > DWORD (32-bit) value.
- Rename the new value to
NoLockScreen
and open it. - Change its value data to 1.
- Restart your computer.
You are done.
Ready-to-use REG files
For your convenience and peace of mind, we have prepared two ready-to-use registry files. They will allow you to turn off the Lock Screen in Windows 11 with a single click.
- Download REG files in the ZIP archive using this link.
- Extract the archive contents anywhere.
- Open the Disable the Lock Screen in Windows 11.reg file and confirm the changes.
- To restore default values and turn the Lock Screen back on, use the Enable the Lock Screen in Windows 11.reg file.
- Restart your computer to see the changes in action.
Finally, if you use Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education, you can use the group policy editor to turn off the Lock Screen in Windows 11. You can check your Windows version in Windows Settings > System > About > Windows Specifications.
Disable the Lock Screen with Group Policy
- Press Win + R and enter the
gpedit.msc
command. - On the left side of the windows, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.
- Now switch to the right side of the editor and find the Do not display the Lock Screen policy.
- Open the policy and change it from Not configured to Enabled. This will disable the Lock screen in Windows 11.
- To re-enable the Lock Screen, switch the policy back to Not configured.
- Click the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes.
Using Winaero Tweaker
Finally, you can use Winaero Tweaker instead of quirky and complicated editors for IT Admins and advanced users. Winaero Tweaker provides you with a simple and intuitive UI, plus hundreds of other tweaks to improve your Windows 11 experience.
- Download Winaero Tweaker using this link and run the installer.
- Once installed, open Winaero Tweaker and go to Boot and Logon > Disable Lock Screen.
- Place a checkmark next to the Disable Lock Screen option. Uncheck it if you want to revert changes.

Disable lock screen not working, when waking up from Hibernation (Windows 11), I still have to click “sign in” in order to continue.
I have followed the instructions for “How to Disable Lock Screen in Windows 11”, however, when I check the box next to “Disable Lock Screen” in Winaero Tweaker, the checkmark disappears and will not remain. I use admin privileges to no avail. Please advise.
