Windows 11, the latest version of the operating system, comes with a set of brand new sounds. They are soft and light, so many users like them a lot. But what remained unknown is that sounds will change when you switch to dark mode and back.

When you enable the dark style in Windows 11, the system sounds will be adjusted. With this minor change, Windows 11 is very different from its predecessors. It is the first OS version that allows using one group of sounds for light visual styles, and a different group for dark themes. Inbox sounds are similar, but they are slightly different. When in dark mode, Windows 11 makes sounds softer; they also seem to echo as in a large room.
The information comes from the interview published on CNBC. There, former Microsoft employee Matthew Bennett shared some stories about Windows 11 sounds and the new direction Microsoft goes with the OS.
According to Bennett, the solutions implemented in Windows 11 have their roots in 'calm technology', a two-decade old approach described by Xerox engineers. There is a dedicated post on Medium by Microsoft's Christian Koehn and Diego Baca that brings some details on "calmness" in the OS.
Calmness is much needed in today’s world, and it tends to hinge on our ability to feel in control, at ease, and trustful. Windows 11 facilitates this through foundational experiences that feel familiar, soften formerly intimidating UI, and increase emotional connection.
When it comes to sounds, they now have a much rounder wavelength, making them softer so that they can still alert/notify you, but without being overwhelming. They are soften similar to the rounded UI to match the overall experience.

I don’t see any difference in the sound even I switch themes in Windows 11, otherwise it should like those in Windows 7 that has different sound schemes for every theme.
