Microsoft is working on an option to open the Copilot assistant when you sign in to the OS. It even got its own section under Personalization, where the appropriate option resides. The feature is hidden in Windows 11 Build 23575 (Dev).
The Open Copilot when Windows starts option comes with a description telling that it will auto-open Copilot when your device has a wider screen. This means that the AI assistant will not start automatically on devices of the small factor, e.g. tablets and laptops with a low resolution. Also, if you are using an ancient 4:3 display, probably it will prevent Copilot from auto-opening.
Currently, the option does nothing. It is a work-in-progress, and this is the reason why it is hidden. But you can check out how it looks by running the following ViVeTool command as Administrator:
c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:45690501
Download ViVeTool from its GitHub page and extract it to the c:\vivetool folder. Then right-click Start, select Terminal(Admin), and copy & paste the mentioned command to get the option visible.
To hide it again, use this command:
c:\vivetool\vivetool /reset /id:45690501
The current version of Copilot is only available to a limited set of countries, and it requires you to click on the Copilot taskbar icon or press Win + C to launch it. The new auto-open option may be of help for those who often use the AI assistant for online searches, text processing, and even managing Windows options. Thought the latter capability is pretty limited as of this writing.
