On October 13, Microsoft has started rolling out Edge 118 to the stable branch. While it is a relatively minor app update, it adds a new feature, Search on page. It uses an intellectual search algorithm that can find even misspelled words and synonyms. Besides, the release changes the Bing icon in the Sidebar to the Copilot icon. Finally, there are some policy and business-related updates.

With the latest AI-powered smart find update to Find on page feature, searching for a specific word or phrase on a webpage has become much simpler. Find on page now offers related matches and synonyms as suggestions, ensuring that you effortlessly find what you're seeking, even if you mistakenly misspell a word in your search. By simply selecting the suggested word, you can promptly locate the desired word or phrase on the page.
New SmartScreen policy
Introducing the latest update policies for Microsoft Edge. Administrators now have the ability to manage the "Download Updates over metered connections" setting (edge://settings/help) through the MeteredUpdatesDefault
and MeteredUpdates
policies. The MeteredUpdatesDefault
policy applies to all apps, while the MeteredUpdates
policy applies specifically to targeted apps. Enabling the Allow configuration in a policy ensures that updates can be downloaded even on metered connections, such as cellular networks or other connections with controlled data usage.
Microsoft Edge for Business Banner removal
Microsoft Edge for Business is a specialized version of Microsoft Edge designed specifically for workplace use. It empowers administrators in organizations to provide their users with a secure and productive web browsing experience on both managed and unmanaged devices. As part of this update, the in-product Microsoft Edge for Business banner is being phased out and will no longer be displayed.
