AdDuplex published its monthly report with the latest data about Windows market share. According to the October 2021 report, Windows 11 managed to gain almost 5% since the official launch on October 5.

Data gathered from approximately 60,000 PCs shows that Windows 11 now holds 4.8% of all Windows 10 PCs. That grants Windows 11 fourth place behind Windows 10 21H1, 20H1, and 2004.
Note that 4.8% of users Windows 11 has do not include Windows Insiders. AdDuplex counts Windows preview testers in a separate category, which currently holds 0.3% of all surveyed machines. Windows 10 has the same number of Windows Insiders.
Unsurprisingly, Windows 10 21H1 (May 2021 Update) remains the most popular Windows version. AdDuplex says it holds 37.6% of all PCs. In October 2021, the operating system lost 0.5 points.
Windows 10 20H2 holds second place with 34% (down from 36.1% in September 2021), and Windows 10 2004 is third with 14.1% (down from 14.5% in September 2021). The latter is now on its way out as Microsoft prepares to stop supporting Windows 10 2004 in mid-December 2021.
The remaining 9% of Windows 10/11 users split between Windows 10 1909 (3.9%), 1903 (2%), 1809, and older releases (3.1%).
A somewhat slow rollout of Windows 11 should surprise anyone, considering relatively high Windows 11 hardware requirements and Microsoft's steady approach to distributing the latest operating system.
Microsoft plans to ramp up Windows 11 rollout early next month, focusing on modern computers with the newest hardware first. For that reason, your older, although supported computer, might not get Windows 11 via Windows Update right now.
If you want to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, use official utilities, such as Upgrade Assistant and Media Creation Tool. Microsoft also lets you download Windows 11 ISO files directly from the official website. You can also use those images to create bootable media using third-party tools, for example, Rufus.
