Mini menus are now available on web pages in Edge Canary, you can enable them with the Mini Menus on Text Selection option. In one of the recent updates to Edge Stable, Microsoft added new mini menus for PDF documents. Those menus simplify the user experience and remove unnecessary options, leaving only the most frequently used features. Microsoft continues working on the idea and now offers simplified menus for all web pages in Edge.
New mini menus are available in the latest Edge Canary update; here is how to enable them.

Enable Mini Menus on Text Selection in Microsoft Edge
- Update Microsoft Edge Canary to the latest version by visiting the
edge://settings/help
URL to check for updates. You need version 92.0.894.0 or newer. - Open the main menu (Alt + F) and click Settings.
- Go to the Appearance on the left.
- Find the Mini menus on text selection section.
- Turn on the Show mini menus when selecting text option. Do note that this toggle is now applicable to both PDF documents and regular web pages.
And that is how you enable mini menus for web pages in Microsoft Edge. With mini menus turned on, you can only access the "Copy," "Search with Bing," "Define," "Hide Menu," and "More actions" commands. Also, new menus work only with text selection. Right-clicking a web page opens the regular context menu.
It is surprising to see Microsoft bringing additional customization features to mini menus. Besides the regular on/off toggle, you can specify websites where new menus will not work. That feature will come in handy with websites that require features not available in simplified menus.
Disable Mini Menus for Specific Websites in Microsoft Edge
- Press the Alt + F keyboard shortcut and select Settings from the menu.
- Go to the Appearance section.
- Scroll down to the Mini menus on text selection section.
- Click the Disabled sites option.
- Click the Add button to specify a website.
- If you want to remove a website from the mini menus exclusions, go to the Disabled sites list.
- Click a three-dots button next to the website you want to exclude, and click Remove.
Currently, Microsoft is rolling out new mini menus for the Edge Canary as part of Controlled Feature Rollout. It means, for now, only a subset of Edge Insiders can access the feature.
