OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot can now search the internet for reliable information with direct links to sources, expanding beyond its previous data limitations. Currently, this feature is only available to Plus and Enterprise subscribers. But soon it will become available to all users.
The search featiure was previously tested with Bing search engine. However, Microsoft later disabled it due to concerns about paywall bypassing.
ChatGPT was initially launched in November 2022 and trained on data until the end of 2021. It has received Internet access plugins in March 2023.
It is worth mentioning that OpenAI has recently introduced voice and image recognition options. The latter allow users to interact with the chatbot in new ways, such as identifying landmarks or solving math problems by taking photos and asking for hints.
