A small update here. Winaero Tweaker 0.6.0.6 comes only with bugfixes.
In this version, I made the following bugfixes.
- The checkbox "Disable Windows Defender Tray icon" had wrong state in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Thanks to Gary Shapiro.
- Fixed the appearance of the Wallpaper Image Quality option. Thanks to EBIN.
- Modified the task which disables Lock Screen in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Now it will not be disabled if your device is on battery. This should resolve the issue with non-working feature for some users. Let's test and see.
If you can live with these minor bugs, you can skip this release.

Hello! Not sure if this was supposed to address the sleep/lock screen issue. Sleep still triggers the lock screen but ONLY if you have set “Require sign-in” to “Never” (Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options). If it is set to “Every time” I don’t get the lock screen after sleep but just the password screen. Somehow sleep without password requirement changes the DisableLockScreen task from running to queued in the Task Scheduler.
I have noticed that using the wallpaper quality setting it still results in high degradation of the image quality even if set to 100, initially the quality seems fine then at some point it will be degraded again, I was able to force this degradation by showing and hiding the desktop icons.
So, after a certain action Windows ignores the tweak? That’s a pity.
I will try myself.
Can you share with me your wallpaper image? I would like to get the exact result in my test lab.
Yeah it was the dark wall I made that is included with the H2O theme http://virtualcustoms.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=74808&d=1470713182, strange though because this happened yesterday when I was testing the theme and getting it ready for RS1 but I have just tried to reproduce the problem and I cant seem to, to be honest this was the first time I have noticed the quality being reduced so maybe it was a one off thing, if I can reproduce the results again though I will let you know.
Ok, good.
I will try with your image tomorrow.
Unless this is a specific Winaero Tweaker bug, actually: the JPEG format is not lossless so even if you set the quality at 100 there will be quality degradation. This is to be expected, especially if the original .jpeg image is not of the highest quality.
If I disable notification center and Windows Defender finds an issue that it wants to alert me about, will I get an onscreen alert?
Needs to be tested with Anniversary Update.
I think you will get a notification toast in that case.
If I am not wrong, toasts should be disabled separately.
Tested. Alerts appear as a badge on the Windows Defender icon. As long as the Windows Defender icon is not set to hidden, you are alerted to any issues that crop up.
Lock screen is disabled in winaerotweaker 0.6.0.6, using portable mode, but the lock screen still appears in this version, it’s not disabled when turning on computer or restart. Using desktop pc
I am trying to resolve this issue.
Hi, sorry to bother you (again), but I still have the same problem, even with your last release: I still have the LockScreen when I switch on my laptop.
I hope you could do something about it, because it would be a very useful feature.
I am trying to resolve it.
The feature “Disable Lock Screen” still doesn’t work for me.
It works only when I lock Windows and logoff, not restarting.
I have tested on two computers. Just so you know… :-)
I am working to resolve it.
Hey bud, any chance you can include this setting for changing the accent color in GPedit, it’s a good way of doing it if you want to have your start menu tiles a different color from the title bars.

Using Winaero Tweaker 0.6.0.6. The Windows Defender tray icon still won’t hide in the Anniversary Edition. Also the icon is no longer a wall but a shield in the Anniversary Edition. Don’t know if you can detect the AE and change the icon to a shield.
Now I cannot reproduce it.
I have unticked the check box in tweaker, signed out from my user session and singed in back again.
The icon is gone.
You?
Also, can you show me your “Startup” tab of the task manager?
Custom accents don’t seem to work with the AU, can you confirm?
Sorry, I forgot.
I have no plan to open the app source code.
hey Sergey, the screenshot of the Winaero Tweaker shows that there’s a “Shorcut Arrow” option under the “Appearance” tab. This is the page address: winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.156
I downloaded the software but can’t find the “Shorcut Arrow” option under the “Appearance” tab.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Is there a settings file anywhere that I can use for backup? I don’t see one. Seems like an important thing to add to the program!
ThanX for this handy tool! I hope you can fix the following function. I noticed that once I removed the default items (unnecessary clutter) under ‘Customize This PC Folders’ (menu ‘File Explorer’) they would be able to reappear after updates… :-( But trying to fix it again by use your tool, these annoying folders don’t show up in the tool anymore, while they actually do in W10 File Explorer!
the “windows update , change notify to download” no longer works on windows 10 anniversary addition. will there be a new version to fix this? this option saves us on the previous version of windows 10. Without this option I have to do registry hacks to get this funtion back.
thanks,
Kenny

Best custom utility Tweaker out there by far. Looks like Microsoft figured out a way to stop users from disabling Cortana. I removed and reinstalled Tweakero but it still will not disable Cortana. I hate Cortana and it constantly pops up with no way to stop it. . Hope you find a work around. I will keep checking back, Also don’t know what I would do without Win 7 games. Another great program. Only wish Microsoft game server was more stable.

Great Tweaker program along with win 7 games so I can play Backgaamon again. Wish Microsoft game server was more stable. Now my problem. Tweaker will not disable Cortana after last update. Hopefully you can fix this. Cortana constantly pops up no matter what I’m doing.
Thanks,
Scott
