Winaero Tweaker 0.12.1 is here. This version comes with two new features, and also includes a number of suggestions made by users since version 0.12 along with adjustments made for Windows 10 version 1809.
Here are the changes in Winaero Tweaker 0.12.1
- The case sensitivity context menu is now available for Windows 1803+. Thanks to Walkman.
- The "Disable wide context menu" is now hidden for Windows 10 1809. Microsoft has removed this feature, so it doesn't work in October 2018 Update. Thanks to Jason.
- The "Disable Edge prelaunching" feature now works correctly for both 1803 and 1809 versions of Windows 10. Thanks to TairikuOkami.
- The "Disable Windows Update" feature now disables two extra services, Windows Update Medic Service and Update Orchestrator Service. Thanks to OMC.

The ability to customize the image thumbnail preview border shadow

I’m noticing something strange with the “Take Ownership” feature. When I apply it to a single file, it works as expected and I see my username under the file’s properties > security tab. But when I take ownership over a whole directory, instead of an entry for my username, I get “Account Unknown(S-1-5-21-18776……..)” listed, and I don’t get ownership assigned to myself. Is it a bug?

Bug report: “Disable Timeline” option is available on Win10 v1709, but Timeline was not introduced until v1803. In v1709, it is still just “Task View”. Shouldn’t it be hidden?

I have a feature request: an option to exclude a executable from having to ask UAC rights. There’s a bunch of guides around the internet (ex. https://lifehacker.com/how-to-eliminate-uac-prompts-for-specific-applications-493128966), but no real easy tool or script to do it.
I’ve put UAC on the highest setting but would like to add some exclusions.

Can you please script in an option when you change the dark modes to also have an option for Edge and maybe other apps that need to be manually set? Basically setting Edge to dark mode manually every time you change dark mode for other areas is a burden and it would be nice to be able to collectively set everything to Dark in one panel.
I’m trying to set my font sizes larger like I was able to in Windows 7. I set all the fonts in the Advanced Appearance Settings and that helped but it didn’t change all the fonts. For example it didn’t change the font size in the menu options in the Winaero Tweaker program. I was only able to change the top menu font (File, View Tools,etc).
Do you know if it is possible to change desktop application font size either in your program or in the registry? It seems like there were more options to adjust the font size in Windows 7 but I’m not sure.

Adding my thanks and feature request like everyone else. Thank you so much for putting all these tools together and keeping them up to date.
I was wondering if it’s possible to add custom library folders to explorer menus. I have a “Downloads” library because I put some downloads on my ssd and older ones on an hdd. It’s the only user folder I have in two locations. Rather than keeping it in “Libraries” by itself I want to put it with all my other user folders in “This PC”, but I can’t add a library with “Add custom folder” and it isn’t listed in “Add shell location”.
For some reason the “remove compressed overlay icon” setting doesn’t seem to work any more on the 1809.
On x64 machines it hasn’t fully worked at all. In some programs you can see those annoying little blue arrows when using the “open file” dialog.
When trying to import my Bookmarks (Favorite tweaks) from the saved .ini file it will only import 5 of them. I have saved 22.

are you able to import/export bookmarks ?? I imported/exported tweaks… but only 2 of 20 bookmarks made it over.
What a strange issue. Can you give me some names of bookmarks that failed?
Also, can you share your export file?
